Happy Birthday Baby E!

It is hard to believe that Easton is already 1 year old.  It doesn't seem that long ago that we were wishing and praying for another child to join our family.  I remember laying on the table during our transfer praying that God would help our embryologist pick the perfect kiddo for us, and he did!  Easton is a persistent little man that can bring joy to the room with one of his extra large grins!

It seems that in the last month he has learned so much!  He has been jabbering up a storm.  He says "mamama" and "dadada" but not to either of us specifically.  He says "ninini" when he is tired.  His favorite thing to scream is what sounds like "BRUDDAH" (brother).  It is really cute!  When he is sleepy, right before I put him in his crib, he gets really giggly and snugly.  It is a wonderful time to be his mommy!

He has learned to army crawl and has gotten really good at getting where he wants quickly!  His favorite things to do are make the doorstops boing (which is funny because his brother was terrified of those!), take the outlet covers out of the outlets, and seek and destroy any cords he can find!  He is quite a handful! 

 

He also waves "hi" but refuses to do it on command!  When you ask him to wave hi he snuggles into your chest and acts shy, it is pretty adorable!  He can do "so big" and clap too.  He is so proud to show off those tricks!  He is working on sitting up on from crawling.  He loves to hold on to things and stand up.  He grabs your fingers when he wants to take a stroll!  He also really loves being outside, especially when he gets to swing!

 Easton's birthday party was a lot of fun!  We had a fiesta to celebrate our Cinco de Mayo baby.

 All of the kids received Skippyjon Jones books to go along with our theme.

Grandma B. made these adorable cakes.  They were very yummy!  

 We were so lucky to have many of our friends and family members join in the fun!

Cary provided entertainment for young and old alike!

 Some of our friends even came dressed for the occasion!

 Easton's buddies Mac and Davis were there.  These three were all in their mommies bellies at Moonlight Elementary last year.  It has been a lot of fun watching them grow since the very beginning!

 Easton was in a pretty good mood even though he developed a runny nose the night before.

He liked his cake but kept it under control!  

 Daddy and Logan helped Easton open his many gifts.  He was spoiled with books, clothes, and cool new toys.  He has been having a lot of fun exploring all of his new things.

 Easton's favorite thing was the tissue paper!

 Logan and Easton wrapped up the night playing with some of Easton's new bath toys.  I am so blessed to have these two big, healthy boys to celebrate!

The next day Easton and I headed to see Dr. Brunner.  He did really well, smiling at all of the nurses!  When he was born he weighed 4 lbs. 1 oz. he is now a whoppin' 21 lbs. 9 oz!  That puts him in the 75-95th percentile among other 31 week preemies and in the 40th percentile among other 1-year-olds.  He was about 16 inches at birth and is now 28.9 inches.  He is in the 75th percentile for preemies and the 10-25th percentile for other 12 month kids.  His giant 19 inch head puts him in the 95th percentile among other 31-weekers and the 75th percentile among other 1-year-olds.  Dr. Brunner said that when we visit her at 15 months he will just be on the regular growth chart!!  Usually it takes premature babies until age 2 to compare with their peers!  GO EASTON!!  The champ only cried for a minute after his shots.  He is such a tough dude!  

It has been an exciting year of firsts!  I am looking forward to seeing all of the new tricks Easton has to show us in the upcoming year.  I fall more and more in love with him each day.  We are so blessed that he has filled our hearts and completed our family!

March for Babies 2013

This year Team Super Logan added another super kid, baby E!  We changed our name to Team Super Weishaar Brothers.  Unfortunately mommy did not get our t-shirt order submitted in time so we will roll out new shirts in 2014.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day in Kansas!  Grandma B joined us for our 1 mile trek.  

 Logan was so sweet as he held onto his brother on the way to Power and Light.

 Of course, Logan's favorite part of the whole day was the Children's Mercy ambulance!  He got to tour it and everything!

 Logan and I danced to Radio Disney.  It was so fun!  We did the same thing 2 years ago at our first March for Babies in KS.  Unfortunately there was no dancing last year because the March was on Easton's birthday, 9 weeks before his due date.

 It was a blast to celebrate the tough little man he is today!  In true Weishaar fashion he was out cutting a rug as well!!

 It is always a bittersweet morning.  We are surrounded by people who completely understand how difficult it is to have a baby born too soon, too sick, or with a birth defect.  You look around and see the t-shirts that tell a story about preemie babies and then you see that child wearing the same t-shirt.  You see their families HUGE smiles and know that their hearts are exploding with the same joy that you are feeling because their child is well.

There are other families wearing shirts that tell of babies who are no longer with them.  Immediately the tears come, a lump appears in my throat, and a lead weight falls on my chest.  I can only imagine the pain that they feel.

 It makes me feel incredibly blessed that I am able to squeeze my boys everyday!  I am eternally thankful that the March of Dimes has funded research that gave my boys a chance at life.  They are here,  healthy, big, and strong!  Logan and Easton got at least 97 kisses from me today.  My heart is bursting with love for them.  They are proof that prayers get answered.

 I am always amazed at how many people have been touched by the March of Dimes!  Look at all of those people!!

 Hunting for our signs on Baby Boulevard again brought tears to my eyes.  I got to show my boys their signs.  One mommy right next to Easton's sign was not so lucky.

 After the walk Logan and I busted a move while waiting for lunch!  Logan was pumped to hear "Thrift Shop."

As if the day couldn't get any better, as we were eating lunch we were approached by these lovely ladies!  Julie attended Easton's delivery and Megan was instrumental at talking me off the ledge near the end of E's NICU stay!  It was the cherry on top!

 This little boy was worn out!!

After the whole family took a big nap we headed outside to enjoy each other and the wonderful day!  E cruised around in the cozy coupe.

Then Logan and Easton played in E's new water table.  It was wonderful to hear their laughter and see their smiles!  I am one blessed mama! 

Thank you so much to all of you that donated to our walk.  Thank you for all of your love and support as we battled through the NICU and now that our boys are healthy.  We are so lucky that our boys are loved by so many!

11 months

 Easton is 11 months old!!  That means we are less than one month away from his big first birthday bash!  He is getting to be a very big boy.  We had to dig through big brother's old 18 month clothes!  He is about 20 lbs.

 He love standing these days.  He has even been pulling up on his toy drawers!  However, still no crawling!

I had to include this shot because I just love the wording on the quilt that Kasey's Aunt Kathy made!

Don't you just love those lashes?  If you look close you can see those two front teeth that E has been working so hard on!

 On Easton's 11 month birthday we boarded a train bound for Chicago!  We were lucky enough to spend some time with Gramma Jan and Papi, Auntie Lauren, Uncle Brian, Abby, and Ellery.  Mommy and Daddy had a lot of fun celebrating Erin's marriage to a wonderful man with all of our friends!

 It seemed like a great idea, the boys could get up and move around, we could go without stopping, and it shaved an hour off of our journey!  Well, that was before Easton came down with bronchitis, an ear infection, in addition to the teething.  I spent most of the ride to Chicago in a bathroom nursing Easton so he would relax.  On the way home Kasey and I took turns walking him back and forth, up and down the cars, we were pretty popular!

Logan was a dream child!

 It was all worth it because we got to hang out with our family and friends!!

 

This is how we find Easton sleeping every night, blankies over his head!  He also destroyed his mobile this month, such a bruiser!!
